Am I an in-town resident?
You may have a Wendell zip code but not be a resident by definition of living within municipal limits and paying town taxes. Zip codes do not follow town boundaries and are set by the federal government. That can be learned via the following:
1. Visit the Wake County iMAPS program. On the right-hand side of the map, click the "Layers" menu button. Under Layers, click "Planning and Development" and then click "Corporate Limits." Wendell's town limits should then appear on the map, and you can reference those limits with your property if you search your address in the search box.
2. Raleigh Water provides water and sewer services to in-town residents, and GFL provides waste collection. If neither of these services are deemed available to you, this may mean you live outside of town limits.
3. Give our Planning Department a call at (919) 365-4448 and ask to check if your address is within town limits. Our staff utilizes iMAPS frequently and is familiar with how to quickly search for this data.
4. Paying Wendell municipal property taxes on your home, or vehicle (as a renter living in town), may be a reliable place to start, but the ways above can confirm.
There are many addresses in both Wake County and Johnston County with a Wendell zip code and address. This does not mean you automatically live within town limits and are counted in census tallies as a resident. If you are ever confused or curious, please use the means above to search.
