Budget Terms

Budgets - Outline the operating funds and expenditures of the Town of Wendell for each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). The budget planning process begins around January annually, with each department submitting requests for the upcoming year. By late February, requests are compiled and the Town Board holds a budget retreat to review. By spring, the public is notified of the draft budget and can weigh in via public hearing and comments, before expected approval by May and the budget takes official effect on July 1.

Budget in Brief - A short visual summary of the adopted budget with various data points of interest (total budget, tax rate, new staff positions, capital projects, expenditures by department, etc).

Fee Schedules - A summary of fees for town services for a given fiscal year.

Audits - Audits are independent evaluations and summaries of our operations and finances. The Town of Wendell contracts with external auditors to conduct this annually, after the end of each fiscal year, so typically in the fall.

Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) - These reports show annual audited financial statements that report Wendell's financial position and results of operations.

Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) - A shorter financial report that is designed to be easily readable and accessible to the general public with less technical and accounting language.
