Wendell Falls Parking Ordinance FAQs

On April 27, 2020, the Town of Wendell Board of Commissioners accepted the roads listed on the Parking Map into public maintenance. This means the Town of Wendell is responsible for repairing and maintaining streets, as well as enforcing all motor vehicle laws. Is anything changing regarding where I can and cannot park?

No.

Where will the Town enforce parking?

The Town of Wendell can only enforce parking on public roads accepted into Town maintenance by the Board of Commissioners. Please see the parking map for which roads are public.

Before if I parked illegally, I would get towed. Now what is going to happen?

The Wendell Police Department will respond to complaints about parking on publicly-owned roads. Reasonable efforts will be made to educate the owner of the vehicle in violation. Repeated, egregious, and/or ongoing violations will result in a citation.

How much is the fine?

Fines range from $25 to $50 for Parking violation Notices, depending on the violation.

What if I want to appeal my parking citation?

Notices received on the Parking Violation Notice form can be appealed by submitting a form to the Wendell Town Manager within 5 business days of the citation. Forms are located here to submit an appeal. Parking violations written on a North Carolina Uniform Citation must be answered in Wake County District Court.

How do I report a parking violation on my street?

For public streets, call the Wendell Police Department. They can be reached during business hours at (919) 365-4444 or after hours at 911. For private streets and alleys, Lizard Lick Towing is the contracted vendor for Wendell Falls' towing service. Lizard Lick Towing is located at 2605 NC-97 with hours Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are available after hours and weekends by appointment only. Are we still allowed to park on the street around holidays, like we did before?

The Wendell Falls HOA is required to provide specific dates to the Town of Wendell to grant exceptions to parking. Parking will not be enforced on the dates submitted by the HOA.

How do I request a minor street closure on a public road?

Requests can be made to the Town Managers Office. Forms can be found on the Town's Documents page.
