Public Involvement & Participation
Getting the public involved in stormwater management and education is critical to the success of our systems.
When folks understand the importance of stormwater infrastructure and waterways, get involved in clean-ups, work to ensure certain materials or substances aren't dumped into waterways and act like stewards of their environment, it is a win-win for the community and our local creeks and rivers.
Creek Week Events
Every year during Creek Week, hosted by the Clean Water Education Partnership (CWEP), Stormwater staff host clean-up events for the community.
In 2026, Stormwater staff hosted a litter sweep for Town employees looking to help clean up their local environment, while also hanging out with Track Out campers, taking educational tips to our Food Truck Rodeo on March 21.
It's amazing what can be found on a river bank or floating nearby! Litter remains a constant threat to waterways.
Volunteering
Interested in volunteering your time for a litter sweep or want to clean up a local creek or river? We appreciate your interest and involvement. We welcome volunteers year-round.
Contact Stormwater Administrator Darby Bishop to schedule a time and get more resources! Darby can be reached at (919) 365-4822 or by email at dbishop@townofwendellnc.gov.
